In brief

What works, what to weigh

+

Strengths

4 reasons to book
  • Exceptional value for Tokyo — Frequently described as one of the cheapest options in the city, with guests noting the low price for a private room.
  • Clean shared facilities — Multiple positive comments on the cleanliness of shared bathrooms and showers, which are maintained after use.
  • Quiet location — Guests appreciate the peaceful neighbourhood, with little traffic or crowd noise, especially after 10pm.
  • Friendly and helpful owner — The host is praised for being kind, offering local tips, and accommodating early arrivals with showers and luggage storage.

Worth weighing

4 to weigh
  • Very small rooms — Many guests note rooms are tiny, suitable for sleeping but cozy for two. Limited space for large luggage.
  • Late check-in time — Check-in opens at 4pm and the front desk is closed before that, which can be inconvenient for early arrivals.
  • No frills or luxury — The hotel is basic – rooms lack extra amenities and the building's appearance isn't fancy. Not for those expecting comfort.
  • Shared bathroom limitations — The common bath (male only) closes after 9pm, though 24-hour showers are available.

“Probably the cheapest hotel in all of Tokyo – the price can't be beaten. Rooms are nice and clean but small. Free tea, shops and restaurants nearby, and a 10-minute walk from the metro.”

“Good value! Not a luxury hotel by any means, but decent accommodation for a reasonable price.”

“The host was friendly and gave us good information, with helpful restaurant suggestions nearby.”

“The room was very small, but very economical for a private double. If you don't mind being close to your travel partner, it's a good option. Staff were really friendly and let us check in early after a long flight. Free hot and cold drinking water was a plus, and it's close to a supermarket and not far from the metro.”

“This hotel is in a peaceful neighbourhood – you can barely hear traffic or crowds after 10pm. About a 5-minute walk to the nearest station. Check-in at 4pm is a bit awkward (the counter is closed before), but the owner is around and helpful. We arrived early and were allowed to shower in the shared bathroom before our city tour, then left our luggage and came back before 11pm to check in. Rooms are very small but enough for sleeping and two big bags. We even had bento on a small Japanese-style table. Shared bathroom and toilet are very clean. The owner, a kind old man, gave us a lucky charm for a safe flight. Highly recommended for budget travellers.”

“Very clean and convenient. The common bath (male only) closes after 9pm; two shower rooms are available 24 hours.”
